Other Services for Young People

1-2-1 Support Sessions

The base offers a confidential listening service for young people who need somewhere to chat about issues. No matter what is on your mind, or the issues you're facing then you can talk to someone here in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. We won't judge you or make assumptions - we'll just listen and help.

The support we offer is tailored to suit what's best for you and aims to help you find ways to work through the challenge you're facing. It encourages you to develop social and emotional skills and guides you towards making positive choices.

You can either refer yourself to the 1-2-1 sessions of you can be referred by your school, parent, family support worker or other organisation.

Your C-Card

The Your C-Card Scheme offers sexual health advice as well as free condoms and lube to young people aged 13-24, no matter what their sexual orientation is. After the first visit, when you receive your card, you can pop into the base at any time to "stock up".

As well as the C-Card we also offer regular sexual health workshops to young people. For more details on these please contact thebasenorwich@gmail.com
Youth Mental Health

Youth Mental Health First Aid

If you're worried either about your own mental health or that of a friend then The base has four team members who have undertaken the YMHFA (Youth Mental Health First Aid) training and are now capable of supporting any young people who might be exhibiting signs of mental and/or emotional distress.

The YMHFA is an internationally recognised course designed specifically for professionals that teach, work, live with or care for young people ages 11-18. It teaches individuals how to identify, understand and help anyone who might be developing a mental health problem, so don't bottle it up - pop in and have a chat.

National Citizenship Service

The base is proud to be working in partnership with The Community Sports Foundation on the National Citizen Service (NCS). NCS is a way for 15 to 17 year olds living in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to make extraordinary friendships, learn the skills they don’t teach in class and to create unforgettable memories. The scheme helps build confidence and enhances UCAS applications and CVs while developing many of the skills that employers look for.
